Areas of Practice

Trauma-Sensitive Care

Not all counseling is created equal, especially when it comes to working with survivors of trauma. GCR views the counseling process through a trauma-sensitive lens. This means that providing felt-safety, autonomy, and empowerment are key components of the therapeutic process. Clients are treated with understanding, grace, and respect as they work toward healing and discovering their true selves.

Empowerment

When a person experiences severe trauma, their sense of identity may be compromised. At GCR, our clients are given the opportunity to find their voice and redefine themselves as individuals who are worthy of love and protection. By teaching clients to advocate for themselves in intimate relationships, their work places, or in their own families at home—they can learn to develop healthy relationships with others while living confident, autonomous, and empowered lives.

Advocacy + Awareness

GCR is passionate about providing the best care to survivors of sex trafficking and individuals who have experienced abuse or neglect. To do this effectively, the healing process may require the help of the justice system, the school system, or other governmental organizations. As we advocate for our clients and raise awareness, GCR hopes to facilitate positive and lasting change in the lives of survivors and those that provide them care. While we can’t prevent trafficking from happening on a global level, we can choose to make a difference in the lives of every single survivor we encounter.
